ESA letters in Denver: choose the correct DHA form and review route
Use Denver Housing Authority’s document library for the relevant program and keep a property request separate from a clinical assessment.

Identify the housing program before selecting paperwork
An ESA letter in Denver may be submitted to a private landlord, a Denver Housing Authority property or a participant’s program contact. Determine which arrangement applies before choosing a form. A document from DHA’s website is not automatically the required form for every rental within the city.
Ask whether the requested change concerns the unit’s animal policy, a program requirement or both. Record the person responsible for each decision. This is especially useful when an owner and a housing-assistance administrator communicate through separate systems and do not necessarily receive the same attachments.
Use the DHA library as a program directory
Denver Housing Authority’s document library lists reasonable-accommodation guidelines, an accommodation grievance procedure and other program documents. Use the library to find the current material for your program and confirm the correct version with the responsible office.
Do not choose a document solely because its title includes pets or animals. Ask whether a pet policy applies to the accommodation question and which separate process should be used. Keep the form’s program name and date attached to your record so a later reviewer understands what you submitted.
Discuss Colorado requirements with the evaluator
Bring the housing request to a professional who can assess you at your location. Explain existing care and the animal’s role. Colorado’s 2026 documentation legislation should be considered through the current signed text and its qualifications, which are linked in the statewide guide.
Before paying, ask how the assessment and professional relationship meet applicable requirements. Clarify fees for evaluation, possible documentation and later verification. A faster download does not establish that every clinical or housing step can occur on the same timetable.
Keep the file consistent between recipients
Save the exact document version sent to management and any program office. Ask for acknowledgment from the appropriate recipient. If an office returns a form for clarification, preserve the requested changes and ask the issuer what can appropriately be supplied.
Separate clinical support from ordinary animal-care records, a rent ledger or an incident account. Each may be relevant to a different issue. Avoid asking an evaluator to guarantee behavior or a program employee to make a clinical determination outside that person’s role.
Use the review procedure that fits the decision
If DHA is responsible for the disputed action, ask which current grievance or review process applies. If a private owner made the decision, identify the relevant management and rights route instead. A document library is a starting point for locating procedures, not proof that a grievance has been filed.
Keep formal notices and response dates visible while following up. Seek suitable advice for urgent matters. An evaluation appointment, uploaded form or pending clarification should not be assumed to extend a separate deadline or establish that the request has been approved.
