A free file is not a free evaluation

Begin with care you already have

Look for affordable care without assuming an ESA program
HRSA's affordable-care page directs people to health centers serving patients with or without insurance or money to pay. Its health-center locator is a starting point for finding a clinic.
These resources are not an offer of free ESA letters. Ask each clinic about available mental health services, financial assistance, assessment scope and documentation policy. A clinic may help with ongoing care while declining a particular administrative request.

Compare the full route, not the cheapest first screen
Write down the visit price, possible follow-up cost, document fee, additional-form fee and any recurring charge. Mark unanswered items as unknown. Include practical costs such as transportation or time away from work when comparing an in-person visit with telehealth.
For a remote appointment, disclose your physical location and ask how the clinician is authorized to practice there. HHS describes several state-dependent cross-state pathways. A low price does not settle that question.
Compare the complete cost of care
A cheap emotional support animal letter offer may omit assessment fees, follow-up or renewal charges from its headline price. When seeking a low-cost emotional support animal letter, ask an existing practice or an affordable-care clinic about its actual documentation policy before assuming it provides letters. A free emotional support dog letter should still reflect an appropriate assessment; a downloadable sample is not the same service.
